What Is Sperm Donation and How Does It Work?

Sperm donation is a procedure in which a man donates his semen to an individual or couple to help them to conceive a baby. The donor can be known to the recipient or completely anonymous.

Who can benefit from a Sperm Donor?

• Women who decide to start a family by themselves.
• Members or couples of the LGBT community.
• Heterosexual couples where the man has an infertility factor.
• Men or women whose sperm or ovules have been affected by age-related conditions.
• Patients or couples who have already conceived a child via donor sperm and want to repeat the process to have more children.

Sperm Donation Process

The volunteer attends the clinic for a semen sample to be collected, which will go through the different routine and genetic tests to select those sperm with the greatest possibility to achieve fertilization.

The sample received can be used in different assisted reproduction treatments, such as Intrauterine Insemination (IUI) and In Vitro Fertilization (IVF).
